Even though we may choose Christ last and even seek to get rid of his presence in our lives, Christ, rejected and scorned, chooses us first. This is why this Friday is called “Good.” Let us be thankful and aim to Choose Him above all people and things.

If we are insecure in who we are, we will inevitably fall into whispering about others, spreading news of their weakness, so that we may feel more secure. Only by being completely secure in the Father’s love for us, can we be free of this all to common pitfall in our lives. Also, only assured by the acceptance of the Father can we serenely endure the whispering of others about us.

There is always a temptation to revel in the weakness of others. To laugh and point at the sight of another’s sin or weakness. But Christ teaches us another way. Rather to encounter the weakness of others, pick them up, dust them off, encourage them and help send them back out into the world, empowered by your love and mercy, to go and “sin no more.”

What about God and his goodness is obnoxious to you? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you out your finger on this, and then give him permission to root it out of you. When confronting the goodness of God in others today, try to pray “Thank you God” or “Praise you God” instead of “Come on! Give me a break!”
