Makes Us Whole

Makes Us Whole

Family members are our “flesh and blood” and consequently “part” of who we are. However, God is not just a “part” of our lives but it is he and he alone that makes us “whole.” God never meant for us to live apart from him. However, in a world touched by sin we have grown accustomed to this unnatural separation from God. God invited us into ever deeper Communion with himself so that we may be made “whole” and live life to its fullest potential.

What a blessing it would be that when you die, people will respond by saying, “He died as he lived, by sacrificing himself for others.” On this Easter, let us recommit ourselves to sacrificing ourselves out of love for God and neighbor so that we open ourselves up to the Joy of the Risen Christ and be a vessel of that for the world.

At your Baptism, the Light of Christ was given to you to be kept burning brightly. The scriptures invite us to consider today, how bright is our light burning these days? How do we need to let Christ heal us so that His light can shine forth from within us with greater intensity?

On this Valentine’s Day, it is good for us to pause and thank God for the women in our lives and to consider the unique way God was made women to love and share his blessings with the world around them. The insight of this homily are largely drawn from a book entitled “The Priesthood of the Heart: Woman’s Unique Vocation” by Jo Croissant. Happy Valentine’s Day and God Bless!

Take some time this week and thank God for your baptism. For adopting you as one of his own and richly pouring out his Spirit into you. As richly as you have received, seek to live from this gift and leave to welcome its life and power.
